How To Decorate a Small Living Room for Christmas
Hey loves, welcome back to my blog. Today I want to talk about how you can decorate for Christmas even if you own a small apartment or home. I feel that the holidays are the perfect chance to add even just a little bit of change and a lot of more joy. With that being said, i will show you how you can do DIYs, find good decor if you are in a low budget, and bring your home together just in time for Christmas.
So my husband and I just got married this year in June and we obviously didnt have any seasonal decor. I decided to only get a few decorations this year and collect them as the years go by. We moved in into a three bedroom home with a small kitchen and living room. Since we are in a low budget we didnt get a full size Christmas tree but i still managed to make our home look festive.
Christmas and winter are my favorite holiday and season. Therefore I was really excited to decorate our new place. I started by making a visual aspect of what i wanted to put where.
You can make big changes like moving around some furniture or small changes by changing out the smaller items like frames, rugs and little decor that you have laying around to make space for festive decorations that will make the big picture come together.
Most of the items in this blog are from the dollar store. Some items are very simple but make the biggest changes. Changing out the kitchen towels for example, or switching the door mat/rug for a more festive one are some of the small changes you can do. I decorated the kitchen by adding snowflakes to the drawers and hanging up some Christmas decore like this candy cane and Christmas tree. I also bought three individual bells, tied them together and hanged them in the arch way that seperates the hall from the living room. Another item I got was a little center piece that came with a little red bird, acorns, cranberries and leaves. I thought it was perfect to place on top of our television area and put two bows on each side of it (one green and one red) to add more of the holiday colors.
One of the DIYs I made was this georgeous bouquet of flowers. It was very easy and simple to do. All you need is a vase, ornaments, bow, twine, poinsettia flowers and ornaments to decorate like acorns, apples, and cranberries. All i had to do was hot glue the twine and bow to the vase, add in the ornaments, and arrange the bouquet how i wanted it.
We all know that Christmas wreaths can get pretty pricey which is why I decided to create my own for less than 8 dollars. For this you will need a wire wreath frame, two artificial garlands, ribbon, ornaments, bow and accorns. I started by hot gluing the garland to the wire and tightening it as I go so it can give it a fuller look. Once thats done, decide what you want to put on it or how you want to decorate it. I decided to put silver ribbon around and hot glue Christmas colored ornaments to it. Then I added the bow and accorns on places where there was a lot of space and it really helped my wreath come together.
I had a lot of garland left over because I bought like 5 packs so I decided to decorate the rest of the entertainment center. I made it thicker by criss-crossing two together. I had one extra and decided to put it on top of the kitchen cabinets. I added some Christmas lights by criss-crossing it and it really made it stand out.
Since we dont have a lot of space for a big Christmas tree I got this one from the dollar store and it fit perfectly on one side of the entertainment center. I decorated it with things I already had and placed two little house boxes on each side to make it look like a little town.
I hope you guys enjoyed these ideas and found it helpful. I would like to see how you guys decorated for Christmas also. Tag me on Instagram @beelovely18
